Gates is one of six public elementary schools in the Acton-Boxborough School District. Located in Acton, Massachusetts, our school was built in 1968 and named for Dr. Paul P. Gates, a native of Acton who served as the school system's physician for twenty years, from 1948 to 1968. The Gates School is composed of Kindergarten through Grade 6. All classes are mixed ability grouped and mainly self-contained; however, there may be some degree of cooperative teaching.

The Student council will periodically conduct school-wide events. Any school issue may be submitted for discussion. Some recent events have been Pajama Day, Spirit Day, Coin Drive for Sterling Animal Shelter.
The Gates School offers a before and after school extended day program that is run by Acton-Boxborough Community Education.
