Core Values

Core Values

A smiling boy in a blue sweatshirt plays on a wooden playground structure.Gates core values are: respect, kindness, and inclusivity.

In all our classes our students learned about our core values and aligned shapes we use and see on a daily basis to our core values. We are continuously looking for ways to bring these values to life so we can actualize what we believe in. These values can be found in our All School Meetings, Book Buddies, Specialist Programs, and throughout the school day.

  • All School Meeting: Each month, we gather as a school community to celebrate and connect through performances, storytelling, and music.
  • Book Buddies: Our younger students are paired with older students in a school-wide Book Buddies program that fosters literacy skills and strong relationships across grades.
  • Unified Arts Programs: Students at Gates Elementary enjoy a variety of specials each week, including art, music, library, and physical education. Our school’s commitment to providing students with a well-rounded education is evident in our focus on creative and physical development alongside academic excellence.

Hearts of Kindness

A framed artwork features a grid of colorful squares, each with a unique heart design.

Hearts of Kindness

“Because hearts represent love, and love spreads with kindness.”

“Because kindness comes from your heart.”

“Because what you fill your heart with is what you have to share with others.”

Respect

A framed artwork displays a vibrant rainbow of geometric patterns in a grid.

“Because all sides are equal so we should respect and treat everybody equally.”

“Because a triangle is the strongest shape and we are the strongest community that we can be when we respect each other.”

Inclusivity

A framed artwork displays a grid of colorful, abstract squares.

“Because a circle encompasses everyone.”

“Because a circle can represent the earth that includes everyone from all backgrounds.”

“Because the circle has an infinite amount of sides so it can include all groups.”
